There’s a particular light on the KwaZulu-Natal coast — soft mornings, warm sea air, long golden evenings. We photograph beach and estate weddings around Durban, Umhlanga and Ballito the way we photograph every wedding: quietly, honestly, and beautifully. Here are real KwaZulu-Natal weddings we’ve captured. From the dunes of Umhlanga and the beaches of Ballito to estates along the North Coast — venues like The Oyster Box, Zimbali, Simbithi Eco-Estate, Brahman Hills and The Boathouse. Inland, the Drakensberg is made for weddings with a view — chapels at Cathedral Peak and Champagne Castle, lodges in the Champagne Valley, and quiet elopements high in the Berg. It’s about three to four hours from Durban, Johannesburg and Bloemfontein. The gentlest months are March–April and September–November; summer afternoons can bring thunderstorms and winter can bring snow, so we plan the light — and a wet-weather option — with you.
